Jeff LaMarche has two great articles on proportions that are must reads if you are sculpting or drawing the human figure.
Canons of Proportion and the Ideal, Part 1 covers the systems of ideal proportions laid out through history. The Egyptians, Greek, Vitruvius, etc.
Canons of Proportions II - Faith-Based Canons? takes data from real people (in this case military personel) to determine what the real average human proportions and standard range most people fall into.

Lots of Itty Bitty Cuttlefish
I don't know why but I haven't had the patience to work on any big sculpts lately. I blame my brother, he's home on leave from the Air Force for a month so it's been a lot busier here than usual. I love having him home, I've missed him a lot but my ability to concentrate has gone on vacation.
So I've been working instead of lots of little projects, mostly jewelry. The past couple days I've been making these adorable little cuttlefish earrings. I like them so much that today I'm making a pair for myself to wear that will look like the green ones. Of course they are up for sale here: Cephalopod Earrings
I think these guys are probably too cute for anyone to call baby Cthulhu like my Perma-Pets have been.

Not quite so stressed
So I was able to talk to Cy about what's going on with the cwyh.com domain. He's not entirely sure what's going on either but he knows more than me. The domain registration should still be good but apparently is being used by someone else. So he's working on it and hopefully things will be worked out soon. In the meantime my site is here http://207.210.90.194/~noadi/
Update: Domain issues have been resolved and Noadi's Art is now at noadi.net.

Really Stressed Out
Well noadi.cywh.com has disappeared again and I don't know what's going on. This is the second time in a little over a month so I feel about to cry out of frustration. I'm hoping it will be back up but honestly I don't know. Hopefully I'll have the site back either at noadi.cywh.com or get my own hosting and domain soon.

Couple New Anatomy Resources
I recently came across these two sites with in depth anatomy information, Winking Skull and Visible Body. They are geared for medical study not art but great none the less.
Both require that you sign up in order to use the site but they're free.
I've also added these to my Resources for Figure Artists Squidoo lens.

Valentine Surprise for a Friend
My best friend's husband showed his sweet side this Valentines Day. He asked me to make a Stone Bonds pin for his wife in their wedding colors which were blue and green.
This was just great to do, Danielle and I have been friends since kindergarten and me and her husband set up this up as a surprise. I had such a hard time keeping a straight face when I was at their place for the Super Bowl and she mentioned Valentine's Day and that her jewelry box looked awful empty.

Trilobites and Turtles
I was playing around with some ideas this weekend and came up with these. First of couple cute little turtle pins. I'm not 100% satisfied with these but I really like the little gold glints I added to them with some Pearl Ex sparkle gold powder.
Then the ones I really love, two trilobite necklaces. I'm definitely going to make some more of these. They are black premo with some silver Pearl Ex powder brushed on the high points.
These are up for sale at my webstore.

Little Bit of Sewing
I was thinking yesterday that I wished I had some gift boxes to send out my jewelry in when people order but then I thought that would be a bit of a waste to use two boxes that are likely to be thrown away (the gift box and the shipping box) so I thought of fabric bags. Most people I think would keep it if not for the jewelry then to put change or little objects in.
So I broke out the sewing machine today to make up some little gift bags. I have a big box full of fabric odds and ends that I rarely use because most pieces are too small to do much with. Here are the first three test ones. It took me about 45 minutes to make them all but now that I have the process down I could churn them out pretty quickly.
So from now on anyone ordering one of my jewelry designs will be getting it in one of these cute little bags. Colors or course will depend on the fabric I have but I'll try to match it to the jewelry if I can.

Trying a New Selling Option
I recently heard about eCrater.com and since it's free I decided to give it a shot. Basically it lets you set up a free web store and lists your items in it's marketplace in the category of your choice.
You can check out my store at noadi.ecrater.com. So far I only have a few items up. Wish me luck!

DeviantArt Stock Roundup
DeviantArt has a lot of stock photos available for artists but the quality is pretty variable. You have to wade through of a lot of less than wonderful photos to find the good stuff. Here's a list of some great stock photo deviants I've found lately.
Those marked with a * contain tasteful artistic nudity which may make them unsuitable for viewing at work or school.
Female:
Mjranum-Stock* - Some of the most beautiful stock I've seen including some 360° flyarounds.
SenshiStock - Wonderful collection of figure photos, with the model in a leotard.
spiked-stock - Various poses in casual clothes.
wildchild-stock - Ethereal draped poses.
Elandria - Fantasy and historical costume.
Iardacil-stock - Fantasy poses and costumes.
gentlemansclubstock - Vintage nude photos.
Male:
Darknight-Stock* - Gothic guy and poses.
watchstock* - Nude male in classical life drawing poses.
Ahrum-Stock*
Felixdeon* - Nude males.
Bit of Everything:
mizzd-stock - Fun collection of models in costumes.
lindowyn-stock - Mostly fantasy poses and costumes.
lockstock* - Great mix of stock.
AilinStock
LinzStock - Along with some good people stock there's some wonderful animal photos.
atistatplay - Really fun stuff, mostly from RenFaire and the like.
I also have a small DeviantArt stock account, not much there right now just some photos from the garden and my pets. Absolutely safe for work viewing. Noadi-Stock
