Curse of the Turtle

I don't think I've ever had anyone say anything negative about my Hatching Turtle sculpture but it just won't sell. I've now had the fourth potential sale of my turtle fall through (yes, four separate people). It's really getting funny that people seem to like my turtle enough to want to buy it just not enough to follow through.

The first time I got really excited and actually packed up the little turtle ready to be shipped out and the buyer backed out. Second and third time I got excited but both people were from outside the US so I knew the shipping cost might be a little too much to be worth it. This last time I decided I wouldn't get excited until I recieved payment, which I haven't yet.

For now turtle has a place in my display cabinet and I'm starting to think he's cursed and will be living there forever.

Trilobites and Turtles

I was playing around with some ideas this weekend and came up with these. First of couple cute little turtle pins. I'm not 100% satisfied with these but I really like the little gold glints I added to them with some Pearl Ex sparkle gold powder.

Then the ones I really love, two trilobite necklaces. I'm definitely going to make some more of these. They are black premo with some silver Pearl Ex powder brushed on the high points.

Turtle Video

So I took my little turtle sculpt outside today and shot this quick little video of it. If people like these I'll do some with my other work too.

Baby Turtle Sculpture

I'm completely and utterly addicted to StumbleUpon. If you aren't familiar with it, StumbleUpon is a fun little social web browsing utility available as an extension for Firefox. You get to select topics you like, and click the stumble button and it sends you to a page in one of those topics that you can then give a thumbs up or down. Now one of the topics I selected is animals. I love that topic because it usually leads to lots of pictures of animals which sometimes inspires me to sculpt something. In the past it's led to the Octopuppy. So last night I'm stumbling and this page turns up. I just couldn't resist, a hatching turtle is just too cute. I haven't decided how I want to paint it yet but here's what he looks like:

I haven't decided how to paint this little guy. I think the photos are cute but I'm not sure I like the coloring on the turtle. I think I want something more green.
